ASSOCIATE IN APPLIED SCIENCE
SCHOOL OF ART AND DESIGN

FIT’s unique program will prepare you to stand out in the multibillion-dollar global jewelry industry. The first year of the program trains you in the design and creation of jewelry, rendering techniques, principles of production methods, the study of gems, and design trends of the past, present, and future. In the second year, you choose either the studio option (3D production of jewelry) or the design option (aesthetic aspects of jewelry design). Industry-grade facilities include a metal-casting workroom, silversmithing equipment, and a fully equipped gemology lab.

CAREER OUTCOMES

Graduates work as designers, jewelers, and executives in the manufacture and merchandising of fine and fashion jewelry for such companies as Tiffany & Co., Harry Winston, Carolee, Jones Jewelry Group, and Oscar Heyman, and as assistants to top designers such as David Yurman and Judith Ripka. Some recent graduates market their own jewelry lines online.
