Textile/Surface Design is the design and development of fabrics for fashion, accessories, and interiors, including products for home markets. Integrating traditional drawing and painting techniques with digital design, weaving, and screen printing, this hands-on program prepares students for jobs in the evolving textile industry. In the AAS program, you’ll build strong foundations in color theory, drawing, painting, computer-aided design, and textile history. You will create patterns and fabric collections for use in apparel and home furnishings. As a BFA student, you’ll advance your skills, develop your personal style, and explore specialized design areas, such as carpets, knit design, jacquard fabrics, paper products, and dishware. A required internship will give you hands-on experience necessary to launch a successful career upon graduation.

CAREER OUTCOMES
Graduates find positions as designers of print, woven, and knit textiles for the apparel industry, the hospitality market, home furnishings, or decorative products including bedding, linens, carpet, and wallpaper.
